Growing up, I quickly realized Zach was different. He had a magical gravitational pull to those around him. I admired Zach’s happy-go-luck attitude and non-judgmental mindset.

For Zach’s 21st birthday, we went on a boy’s trip to Las Vegas. We stayed at the Palazzo at the Venetian Resort and took full advantage of the luxurious stay. On the last night, we channeled our inner Frank Sinatra and Dean Martin and threw on our tuxedos. We cruised the strip and had a big dinner at Maggiano’s before going to the casino.

Zach was the recipient of this award. When they called his name, he was given a standing ovation. The night was FULL of emotion and touching to many. It was a celebration because it was the first time an individual with special needs ever received this honor.
