When I first found out about Brianna, I was a bit confused as to how she got down syndrome and what down syndrome was. I was worried about how things would turn out, about her future, and how others would treat her. When she was born, I wanted to see her, be with her. As she grew, I knew things would turn out alright. She has this ability to make anyone smile, any mood, any time of the day, if she’s having a good day of course.

There are many amazing memories with Brianna, but the ones I love the most are when she finds a mirror or an object of some sort that allows her to see her reflection. She starts to smile and laugh as she sees herself and then she greets her reflection as if it were actually there. Then she starts to tilt her head or wave her hands and laughs as her reflection copies her. She likes it when we mimic her moves. For instance, if she tilts her head, and we do the same thing, she laughs, so it’s the same with her reflection. It’s these little things that she does that raises our spirits whenever we’re down. That’s why I love her so much.
