Solsae is wonderful and I am lucky to have her as my sister. I love her and I love how much she loves me too! My favorite thing to do with her is play tag. She always giggles and has so much fun. Solsae also loves me to read to her.

Life through Solsae’s eyes is a brighter place. She inspires me to be a better person and to treat everyone equally. Her name means sunflower in Old English and she definitely shines. Down syndrome does not define her, she flourishes despite any challenges it brings, and this is the essence of her story. A story where we focus on the present rather than worrying about the future. A story that brought us down to our knees, challenged our beliefs and eventually made us rise again, giving us new hope.

But more important than any of this, is the happiness she brings. Solsae wakes up with a smile on her face, and exhibits a pure and unfiltered joy for life. She lives the moment in the way that we all wish we could. I truly believe this is the magic contained in that additional chromosome. It brings a sparkle to our lives and makes all of us better people. We couldn't imagine our world without Solsae and that amazing extra chromosome.
