Women have nine months to build a connection with their children, but for some men like myself, it does not happen right away. I found that connection when Logan was about three months old. He let out his first laugh with me, and things immediately changed. I have since come to realize that moment was also a defining part of who Logan is.

Little did I know that when I prayed and asked God to be a mom I would be the mom to the most incredible little boy. Hearing the words your baby is showing the physical signs of Down Syndrome in the delivery room did not align with my expectations of being a mother, and you go through a whirlwind of emotions with that news and it changes everything you thought about. At least until you experience it.
