The Joel Series 3/5: Maryury, Sister
When we were younger we went on short road trips a lot with our parents. Joel loves long drives and getting snacks at gas stations or rest areas. Joel also loves carrying his wallet everywhere, he does not leave the house without his “dinero”. At one gas station stop Joel went to the restroom with my parents. My dad came back to the car believing that Joel was with my mom and my mom returned shortly after believing that Joel was with my dad. When she got back to the car and realized Joel was not there, we were all immediately worried. But, there was no need to worry Joel was walking back to the car with frozen popsicles for everyone. It was very sweet that Joel was generous and thought of his family while shopping for snacks and it was a wonderful display of his ability to be independent. I felt amazed at my brother’s ability to navigate the store, pick out snacks for each member of the family, purchase the items, and his sense of direction to walk back to the car. Obviously, we get worried if he is anywhere without us mostly because he can not communicate well with strangers and your mind tends to fear the worst.
