One of my favorite memories of my brother is when our little brother, Shepherd, had just been born. They were sitting together and Everett leaned over, hugged him sweetly and said, “A la la”. This is how Everett says, “I love you”.

A poignant silence fell as the musician stepped to the mic to close out what had been a holy experience, a possibly once-in-a-lifetime concert for our entire family. It hadn’t been more than a wisp of a dream the year before.

There’s just about no place Ever would rather be than at the beach. He wants to sit himself down, right where the waves crash, and experience it all.
