The Craig Series 4/6: Pat, Aunt

Craig was born in 1979 and I admit we knew very little about Down syndrome. Since I was working in Children’s Medical Services in Tallahassee, the staff helped me find every recent brochure, pamphlet, or guide covering Down syndrome and I mailed this package to his parents.  There were so many medical obstacles in the beginning, but Craig was blessed with a loving family and doctors who never quit.  I am amazed every day at all he has accomplished—-high school graduate, valued employee, homeowner, loving husband, Special Olympics athlete, motivational speaker, and the list goes on. My husband and I are Florida State University graduates. Craig has a passion for sports and immediately became a diehard FSU fan. Craig especially admired Bobby Bowden, the longtime FSU football coach who died in 2021. Craig continues to attend many of our football games and cheers the players on whether winning or losing. Craig believes that playing your best is the most important thing. If you meet Craig, you will soon love Craig as we do.
