The Craig Series 3/6: Ken, Dad
My relationship with Craig can be summarized in two words “My Hero”. When I married his mom, Pat, I thought I knew what I was in for and I was ready to love Craig as a son and a friend. My relationship with him has far exceeded anything I had imagined. I asked his permission for his mother’s hand and he was so excited for the three of us. He was also happy to finally get a brother and sister. He amazes me every day and when I think he has finally accomplished everything there is, he takes on a new challenge and sets out to amaze me even more.
His accomplishments and skills are numerous from school, sports, career, outreach, volunteering and on and on. He has never met a stranger and if you give him 5 minutes he will win you over and be a friend for life. He once walked up to Drew Brees (against the organization’s rules) sat down and talked with him over lunch for half an hour at the Saints/Pelicans facility. Only Craig could make that happen and I am sure that Drew got more from the conversation than Craig.
Craig’s biggest attributes are his kindness and ability to be caring and loving. He always sees the best in everyone and displays it every day. The world would be so much better if everyone shared this feeling.
Craig has touched the lives in a positive way for so many people. He has fans around the world including scholars, sports figures, politicians, friends, and relatives. I am proud to say that I am one of his biggest fans and he is truly “My Hero”. As Pat has said, “There is no step in stepfather” and I am happy and proud to call Craig my son.
