The Malin Series 2/6: Kamila, Mom

(THE MALIN SERIES 2/6: Kamila, Mom)

It must have been 1st-grade elementary school graduation…kids worked really hard on performing end of the school year concert. The large gymnasium was full of excited parents, loudly chatting in anticipation of seeing their little ones perform. My first thought… oh no! Malin doesn’t like loud, crowded places. She gets shy and uncomfortable. How is she going to handle this?

Before I could finish my thoughts I saw all the kids lining up to sing. And there was Malin  - proudly standing next to her beloved teacher in the middle of the big gymnasium! Assisting with the music notes and guiding all the kids on what song to sing next! She found us in the audience and kept waving and pointing at herself - Look at me!!!

Bright-eyed and standing proud, with a big smile she overcame her own fears and showed the whole world that anything is possible! Seeing her being so independent and so confident took my breath away. It truly made me realize that my little Malin can move mountains if she puts her mind to it.

Today she is a smart, confident, loving, and funny 9-year-old who is not afraid to take on any challenge. She might be hesitant for a moment so I whisper in her ear, “Do your best!” and she says, “Yes Mom, I will do my best!” And off she goes to show the whole world she can!
