“Have you ever seen someone across the way and said to yourself ‘I wish I was friends with them.’ When I first saw Linzey walking confidently across the way in HS PE (2012), I knew I wanted to be matched with her in our school's Best Buddies program. She’s the type of girl that draws people in with her confidence, sass, and care. Now the question was, would she want to be matched with me? At no point did I want to be her friend because she had Down syndrome but I wanted to be her friend because of who she is. She was the most popular girl in PE!

She became not only my Best Buddy but a member of the family. It didn’t happen overnight but happened a few years after high school. We would have weekly sleepovers at my parents house which then turned into Linzey attending every family gathering and going on every one of our family vacations. My husband considers her a sister; my parents treat her as one of their own; my sister, Linzey and I do everything together - the three of us are inseparable.

Fast forward to 2018, she was the co-maid of honor in my wedding. We truly do everything together from going to Disneyland to snow trips to cruises. You name it, we do it together. I can’t imagine what my life would be if I never noticed her dancing across the PE gym almost 10 years ago.”
