Whenever I’m upset James does his best to comfort me with a pat on the back and a big smile. He makes me laugh and we tend to wrestle a lot.

It’s not all sunshine and rainbows, there are still times that I’m disappointed in his progress and it’s tough seeing other kids so far ahead of him but that’s not his fault so we keep pushing through. When he does master a new skill it brings so much joy to us and it overshadows those tough moments.

In a world where traditional standards rule so many, I saw this as an opportunity to create my own path, set new standards, and embrace fear to create change.
